Chiropractic Medicine
Chiropractic medicine is an evidence-based, non-invasive, hands-on primary health care profession that focuses primarily on the neuro-musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors assess disorders that are related to the spine, nervous system and joints of the extremities through a biomechanical approach. At One Elephant our Chiropractic Doctor will use an evidence-informed approach when treating/managing neuro-musculoskeletal conditions and often use a combination of treatments that can include gentle adjustments / mobilizations, active release technique, instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy, kinesio-taping, medical acupuncture, and functional movement screens to restore optimal body mechanics, relieve pain and prevent future re-injury..
Chiropractic Doctors have a minimum of 8 years of postsecondary education, including training at an accredited chiropractic college after obtaining a university degree. The Doctor of Chiropractic program has an intensive four-year curriculum of academic and clinical education. Chiropractors have the option of continuing with a two-year specialization in clinical sciences, sport sciences or radiology. Successful completion of board certification examinations is required for complete licensing. Doctors of Chiropractic are registered with the Ontario and Canadian Chiropractic Association and are registered with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario.
